Missing the Transport at the Docking Bay

I was trying to catch my morning commuter shuttle, but the transit hub was inside this massive, quiet starship docking bay that also somehow felt like my old high school gym. My manager, who had this elaborate silver-trimmed uniform like an imperial fleet officer, kept tapping his clipboard telling me our transport to the outer colony was departing in three minutes. I couldn't find my boarding pass on my phone because the screen was totally unresponsive, and when I looked out the big observation window where the bus loop should have been, there were just these huge, silent freighters drifting past two purple moons. Everyone from my office was already walking down the ramp in formal gray tunics, and I was just standing there in my normal beat-up sneakers, frantically turning my backpack inside out trying to find my plastic ID badge before the airlock sealed.
