Endless Hallway Sprint to the Subway

I was late for work again, sprinting down the hallway of my apartment building, but the hallway kept stretching forever. I finally burst out the front door, only to realize I was still in my pajamas and my briefcase was a grocery bag full of oranges. The office lobby looked like the coffee shop on the corner, and my boss was behind the counter, handing me a latte instead of a stack of reports. As I tried to explain, I saw Maya – my ex from college – sitting at a table we used to share during finals week. She smiled, but her face flickered between hers and my old roommate's, and she asked if I remembered the secret password we used to get extra fries. I panicked, searched my pockets for my phone, but only found a set of car keys that didn't fit any lock. Suddenly the elevator doors opened to a subway platform, and I was forced to choose between catching the train to a meeting or staying to talk to Maya. I chose the train, but it left without me, and I woke up with my heart still racing.
