I was late for a meeting at the office, except the building kept turning into my old high school. I was looking for conference room B, same as always, but the hallway just kept going and the numbers skipped. I ran into my neighbor from downstairs, only she also felt like Sarah from accounting, like both of them at once. She handed me a phone that wasn’t mine and said someone had been calling all morning. I answered and it was just breathing, no name. I knew I was supposed to recognize who it was. I tried to ask her, but she was already walking away down that too-long corridor and I could barely move. I kept thinking I’d missed something important, like a message I should’ve already understood. Woke up still uneasy about it.
