I was at the grocery after work looking for pasta and kept running into this guy from my old office I used to have a crush on. He was stocking a shelf and also somehow in the checkout line at the same time. Every aisle I turned down he was there, and I felt this pull like I had to say something, but I couldn’t remember his name. The store mixed with my apartment hallway, longer than it should be, fluorescent lights buzzing. I was still in my work clothes that didn’t match and felt embarrassed. He smiled like he knew me and I got that old flutter in my chest, then I realized I was late for something and couldn’t find the exit. I woke up still thinking about it.
