Hunting for Pasta Sauce on an Endless Bus Ride

I was in the grocery store by my apartment, hunting for pasta sauce, except the aisle stretched on like the corridor at work. I bumped into my college boyfriend, only he also had my coworker’s haircut and the same jacket. We decided to get coffee after, but I couldn’t find my wallet in my bag no matter how many times I checked. Then we were on the bus together, sitting too close, and I realized I was still in pajama pants. I felt that old crush feeling mixed with embarrassment. The ride never ended; every stop looked like both my street and the old campus gate. I wanted to say something real, but I kept missing my stop and just sat there hoping he wouldn’t notice I was late for everything.
