Pajama Sprint Through a Grocery Subway

I woke up late for work, sprinted to the subway and realized I was still in my pajamas. The train doors opened onto a crowded platform that looked like the grocery store down the street. I tried to push through, but everyone kept stepping aside for a woman I recognized – my boyfriend's sister, who I hadn't seen since high school. She was laughing with a guy I thought was my boss, but his face kept flickering between my boss and my ex. I felt a knot in my stomach as they whispered, then the guy leaned in and kissed her. I tried to call my boyfriend, but my phone was missing; I found it in the freezer aisle, next to a bag of frozen peas. The store lights flickered, the aisles stretched forever, and I could hear the train horn outside, getting louder. I ran toward the exit, tripping over a cart, and the doors slammed shut behind me. I woke up in my own bed, heart pounding, wondering if I should have told him about that feeling of being left out.
