I dreamed I was at the grocery store after work, still in my office badge, and somehow it was also the hallway outside my old apartment. I kept putting the same cereal box back because I couldn’t remember if I already had it at home. Then I turned and it was my ex from two years ago, except he was also the new guy from accounting, same haircut. He asked if I wanted to share an Uber because the rain had started. I said yes even though I live in the opposite direction. We stood by the sliding doors and they wouldn’t open. I felt that stupid flutter like I still liked him, and also embarrassed because I was holding a bag of frozen peas that had gone soggy. He said something about missing how we used to cook on Sundays. I wanted to tell him I still have his pan, but the words wouldn’t come out right. When the doors finally opened it was just the parking lot of my office, empty, and he was already walking away.
