Searching for Soup in the Caved-in Supermarket

I was trying to do my normal weekly grocery run at the supermarket near my old high school, but half the roof was caved in and weeds were pushing up through the tile aisles. Nobody working there seemed alarmed, just tired. I was searching everywhere for canned soup and batteries, but the shelves only had dusty, expired soda boxes. My phone had zero signal and the battery icon was stuck on 2%. Then my old coworker Mark showed up pushing a rusted shopping cart full of dry pasta, wearing two heavy winter coats even though it wasn't cold. He told me the water shutoff was permanent now and asked if I still had my spare keys to the basement. I got this overwhelming sick feeling in my stomach because I realized I'd left my front door unlocked back home and the street outside was completely empty and dead quiet.
