Glitching Biometric Scanners on the Train Platform

I was trying to take the light rail home from my office downtown, but it was pouring rain and all the train doors had biometric scanners that wouldn't recognize my thumb. Neon ads for synthetic groceries kept flickering in the puddles on the platform, reflecting blinding magenta and green light everywhere. I looked at my phone to pull up a transit barcode, but my phone was somehow integrated into the skin of my forearm, glitching with a static error screen. My old coworker Dan was standing next to me in a vinyl trench coat, casually drinking a coffee, telling me that if I missed the 6:15 train my employee network access would expire. I frantically kept rubbing my arm trying to reboot the screen, but it just stayed hot and buzzing under my skin while the train pulled away without me.
