I was at a dinner party in what felt like my parents' old house, but laid out like my current apartment. I was sitting on a sofa talking to someone from my college chem lab—I don't even think about him in real life, but in the dream we were sitting way too close. Suddenly he took my hand under a throw blanket, and instead of pulling away, I squeezed back. There was this intense rush of guilt mixed with excitement. A few seconds later, my partner walked out of the kitchen carrying a tray of drinks, smiling at everyone. I frantically tried to pull my hand back, but our fingers felt completely tangled together, like I was moving through wet cement. My partner set a glass down right in front of me and asked if I was having fun, and I just froze, utterly terrified he would look down at the blanket and see. I woke up with my heart pounding, feeling strangely guilty even though I was just lying in bed.
