I was in the kitchen making coffee when my phone lit up with a text from someone I used to work with. I knew I shouldn't answer, but I did, and then she was somehow already at the table, still in her coat. My partner was upstairs getting ready, and I kept listening for the bathroom door. She asked if I still had the spare key, which didn't make sense because we never lived together. The hallway to the stairs felt longer than ours, more like the old office corridor. I kept saying we had to stop, but I didn't move. When I heard footsteps, I tried to hide the phone and couldn't find it in my pocket. I woke up guilty before anyone came down.
