I dreamed I was late for work and couldn't find my badge. I was in our kitchen putting on my shoes, but when I opened the front door it was the hallway at the office, the one by the printers. It stretched farther than it should, same carpet, same humming lights, except every few doors looked like my old apartment building from college. I kept checking my phone for the time and the lock screen showed yesterday's date. My coworker Dana was waiting by the elevator, except she also felt like Jess from high school, same laugh, same way of saying my name. I got in and the elevator opened on the bus stop near my house. I tried to run back but my legs barely moved. I was embarrassed because I was still wearing my slippers. Dana-Jess just shrugged like this was normal and asked if I wanted coffee. I felt this mild dread that I'd already lived this morning and chosen wrong, then I woke up reaching for my badge on the nightstand.
